How to Sell Without Selling

Most people do not open their inbox looking for something to buy.
Instead, they are looking for information.
“The best email marketing campaigns are those that simply educate or inform,” says email marketing expert Ken Countess.
“When you educate or inform, you are subtly positioning yourself as an expert in your field,” Countess continued. “You can become the ‘go to’ person when someone who needs your product or service will reach out to you - simply by finding a recent email from you and replying to it.”
With this methodology, you didn't directly try to sell anything, you just provided great information they found valuable.
That’s selling without selling.
So when should you sell?
The “80-20 rule” applies - educate or inform 80% of the time and sell 20% of the time.
With this approach, you’ll get more engagement, more clicks, and fewer unsubscribes.
