Esports Explained

At the center of the team is the In-Game Leader or IGL. An IGL is the voice of the team, when he talks the team listens. In any competitive game there is strategy and executable plays that must be carried out. The IGL oversees how these plays are supposed to happen and when they happen. He is the captain of the team and what he says goes. The responsibilities of an IGL include.

  • Being the voice: The IGL makes the final calls, directing the team’s actions and ensuring everyone is aligned with the strategy.

  • The Shotcaller: They manage the execution of plays, deciding when to push aggressively, fall back, or stall to let the game develop.

  • Adaptability: In any esport, A skilled IGL adapts to changing situations, setting the team up for success and keeping them focused on victory.

the IGL isn’t just a leader—they’re the backbone of the team’s strategic success. Their ability to think critically, communicate effectively, and lead their team under pressure makes them one of the most important figures in competitive gaming.
