Orlando, Fla. (November 13, 2024) Recently, three companies connected to the UCF Business Incubation Program received significant recognition for their businesses.
First, on October 3, Soarce won the Black Orlando Tech Launchpad Liftoff Pitch Competition, competing against several local companies. The first-place prize in the competition was $10,000.
Soarce is based in the Lake Nona Incubator and has developed a novel nanocomposite using seaweed that protects against intense outdoor heat, fire, and more without using any synthetics or toxins. Their product is being tested for a variety of applications as an environmentally friendly alternative to leather and other textiles.
This year, two Incubator companies have been named as honorees for the GrowFL
Companies to Watch Award, Protean BioDiagnostics and Semplastics.
Based in the Lake Nona Incubator, Protean BioDiagnostics is committed to creating and deploying the latest and highest quality laboratory diagnostic tools. The company works with physicians to support them in providing the best possible care for their patients, regardless of where they live.
A graduate of the Research Park Incubator, Semplastics has been supplying precision plastic-engineered components to a broad range of industries since 2000. Semplastics provides a unique combination of plastics manufacturing expertise along with hands-on semiconductor processing experience.
Companies named to this list “are the top 50 high-growth, second-stage companies demonstrating exceptional innovation and potential for future success,” according to GrowFL. In addition, “companies must employ between 6 and 150 people and generate between $750,000 and $100 million in revenue in 2023. More than 500 nominations were received from more than 60 organizations throughout Florida.”
“We’re very proud of our companies who are recognized for their innovation and growth,” says Carol Ann Logue, director, of programs & operations, Innovation Districts & Incubation Program, University of Central Florida. “All of us at the Incubation program are proud to be part of their entrepreneurial journey and successful growth.”
