Did you ever wonder why people open emails?
Think about when you checked your email today.
The very first thing you looked at was, who sent me an email?
And which ones did you open?
“I'll bet that it's from the senders whose name or business you recognized,” said certified email expert Ken Countess. “The #1 reason people open an email is: they recognize the sender's name.”
It’s coming from someone they know - so “it must be good” - is what they’re thinking.
Listen, when we're checking our inbox, human nature says first we look for names we recognize.
Those are the emails that we open up first.
Those are the businesses that stay top of mind.
So that's your cue.
Be sure that you pop into people's inboxes on a fairly regular basis, so your name – your brand – are recognized and become a trusted source of information.
And that’s the number one reason way to get a good open rate.
But the truth is, whether or not they actually open it, showing up in their inbox is the #1 way to keep your brand top of mind.
The second reason people open up emails is that they want to learn something, and that's where the subject line comes in.
“Nobody wakes up in the morning and says, ‘I can't wait to buy something’ when they look at their email,” Ken continued. “They want to learn something, download a freebie, watch a video, register for an event, or see a deal that appealed to them in the subject line.”
But #1 is to show up in the inbox, and keep it short:
