SANFORD, Fla. (Feb. 6, 2024) -- Seminole State College of Florida welcomes Robert L. Whitaker as vice president of business operations and CFO. Whitaker brings 29 years of successful experience in financial management positions, including 23 years of direct experience in higher education. His demonstrated leadership and management skills in accounting, budgeting, facilities, campus safety, and auxiliary functions benefit the College community to maximize business potential and protect valuable resources.
As vice president for business operations and CFO, Whitaker is responsible for the fiscal management of Seminole State and supports the College’s learning-centered mission through effective leadership, analysis, and planning of College finances. He supervises leaders in all areas of Financial Services and Facilities Management at the College. He also serves on the College’s Executive Team, shaping the strategy and operations of the College.
In his most recent role at Georgia Southern University, he was responsible for the leadership and oversight of the University Research and Housing Foundations and provided guidance and problem-solving for the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs.
Additionally, Whitaker is an active member of the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO), the Southern Association of College and University Business Officers (SACUBO), and the National Association of College Auxiliary Services (NACAS) to foster, develop, and promote improved principles and efficient practices in the business and financial management of colleges and universities.
He holds a master’s degree in Business Administration from Georgia Southern University and a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration–Accounting from Morehead State University.
Whitaker and his wife Angela, along with their three teenagers Zoey, Emme, and Keller, look forward to living in Central Florida and being a part of the College community.
