Seminole County is thrilled to announce the successful renewal of the Penny Sales Tax with over 73% voter approval, demonstrating strong community support for continued infrastructure investment. The passage of the Penny Sales Tax renewal empowers Seminole County, its seven cities, and Seminole County Public Schools to move forward with critical projects that ensure the safety, connectivity, and sustainability of our community.
Since its inception in 1991, the Penny Sales Tax has transformed Seminole County’s infrastructure, with investments in roadway improvements, water quality projects, and flood mitigation. With the renewal, Seminole County will now expand efforts to address future needs, including enhanced roadway safety, restored waterways, and sustainable growth initiatives.
"We are deeply grateful to our residents and business owners for their confidence in Seminole County’s vision for a stronger, more connected community,” said Chairman Jay Zembower. “This vote affirms our commitment to ‘promises made, promises kept’—delivering on infrastructure improvements that enhance quality of life for all who call Seminole County home. Thanks to their support, we will continue building the future our community deserves.”
Seminole County is proud to continue this collaborative effort alongside its city partners in Altamonte Springs, Casselberry, Lake Mary, Longwood, Oviedo, Sanford, and Winter Springs, as well as the Seminole County School Board. Together, the County and its partners will ensure every penny is invested wisely, creating lasting benefits for generations to come.
