Seminole County, FL (February 18, 2025) — Today, the Seminole County Parks and Recreation Department is proud to announce the completion of the new loop trail at Sylvan Lake Park in Sanford. Media are invited to attend a ribbon cutting of the trail, funded by the One Cent Infrastructure Sales Tax, or Penny Sales Tax.
The 1.5-mile paved, ADA-accessible loop trail carves a new path through the park for pedestrians and cyclists, including those visiting the park's renowned soccer and tennis facilities. Three newly constructed boardwalks take users over sensitive wetlands.
The project represents one of the final third-generation Penny Sales Tax investments in Seminole County parks. Levied on the sale of consumer goods to visitors, residents, and businesses, the Penny Sales Tax was recently approved by voters for a fourth generation. Over the next ten years, it will help fund park enhancements such as this one, as well as infrastructure needs like stormwater system improvements and new sidewalks and roads.
