Orlando-chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals names shelter one of three non-profits in Central Florida
Sanford, Fla. (November 20, 2024) – Last week, Rescue Outreach Mission was named one of three non-profit organizations “creating change” in Central Florida by the Association of Fundraising Professionals’ Orlando chapter.
The honor was presented to “organizations that successfully strengthen and empower a specific demographic or population in Central Florida.” The other winners were Page 15 and Grace Medical Home.
“We’ve worked hard to reach this point where the community truly sees how we are impacting our community by helping those experiencing homelessness restart their lives.,” says Chris Ham, executive director, Rescue Outreach Mission. “AFP is one of the most prestigious organizations in the non-profit industry and it’s a reflection of the hard work of our staff and volunteers for us to receive this honor.”
Rescue Outreach Mission was nominated by the grant-writing company Purple Halo Consulting. In its nomination, the firm wrote: “Rescue Outreach Mission exemplifies the spirit of the "Creating Change" award. Through its compassionate advocacy, resource provision, and demonstration of successful outcomes, ROM is transforming lives and communities. I am proud to nominate them for this prestigious honor, which recognizes their outstanding contributions to creating a more just and equitable society for all.
“By offering a low barrier for entry and wraparound services, including case management, government benefit assistance, mental health counseling, and employment support, Rescue Outreach Mission equips guests with the tools they need to rebuild their lives.”
The company included several key statistics showing Rescue Outreach Mission’s accomplishments over the past couple of years.
“Since 2022, they have served over 1,300 guests, provided 181,000 meals, and connected over 400 individuals with permanent housing,” the nomination said. “These numbers reflect the scale of Rescue Outreach Mission's impact and the tangible difference it makes in the lives of homeless individuals and families.”
