Optimus Energy Solutions Selected to Charge Seminole Scout

As Seminole County’s innovative move to improve public transportation takes place, Mt. Dora’s Optimus Energy Solutions will be providing the system’s critical infrastructure.

The company received final approval to complete the installation of the first phase of EV chargers for the system: 30 Level 2 chargers and two DC Fast Chargers at Seminole State College of Florida’s Sanford/Lake Mary Campus. The DC Fast Chargers will be available for public use. 

Plans call for up to 50 additional chargers at this depot and the potential to roll out fast chargers at all Seminole County campuses. 

“What Seminole County is doing in partnership with Freebee should be looked at throughout the country,” says Ben Pauluhn, president & Founder of Optimus Energy Solutions. “They are using the newest technology to save tax dollars and make public transportation significantly more efficient for its users.”

Seminole SCOUT started in October with limited availability and has been growing to allow residents countywide to use the program. Operated by South Florida-based Freebee, Volkswagen ID Buzz electric vehicles will be used to pick up residents on demand at their doorstep for rides throughout the county.

Costs are based on how many zones the user needs to cross to reach their destination, but start at $4 per ride. Discounts are available for those who need them.

Optimus Energy Solutions has worked with Freebee on other systems the company operates. For instance, Optimus provides charging and storage for the Freebee Mt. Dora system.

Optimus has been actively involved in Seminole County for several years, partnering with the Seminole County Chamber to offer no-cost chargers to any qualified chamber member.
