Optimus Energy Solutions Installs Solar Array for Tru by Hilton Macon North

Optimus Energy Solutions, one of the southeast’s key providers of commercial solar arrays and EV charging systems, completed its latest project – a 95kW solar energy system in Macon, Ga. 

The project consisting of more than 200 solar panels is anticipated to lower the hotel’s energy costs by nearly 20 percent annually. The project was financed using the Small Business Administration’s 504 Green Loan Program.

“As the costs of solar panels continue to decrease and more options for financing come forward, we’re seeing more and more businesses understand the benefits of solar to their bottom line,” says Ben Pauluhn, CEO & founder, Optimus Energy Solutions. “The improvements made by RJM Hospitality are going to provide benefits for years to come.”

The 95kW solar panel array provides more than 135,000-kilowatt hours of electricity annually. To put that in perspective the average home in the United States uses around 1,000 kilowatt hours per month.

“We are always looking for ways to become more efficient in the operations of our hotels and we believe solar systems like this one can provide tremendous savings long-term,” says Rahim Shah, owner, RJM Hospitality. “With the help from the U.S. Small Business Administration in financing, making the decision to invest in solar was simple.”

The company worked with the SBA to receive a 504 loan under the administration’s Green Loan Program. That program is designed to assist companies in reducing their energy use and helping them save energy expenses through the use of on-site renewable energy, such as solar, heat pumps and more.

Optimus Energy Solutions worked with RJM Hospitality to arrange the financing through First Bank of the Lake for the $4.4 million project, which includes real estate and the solar energy system.. The company then handled all of the installation work.

Over the past 12 months, Optimus installed over 5,000 solar panels manufactured by industry-leading REC Group. The company used racking systems from Ironridge and Solar Stack.
