Oelrich Construction Inc. Wins Prestigious ABC Central Florida Excellence in Construction Eagle Award for Chi University Small Animal Hospital

Orlando, FL – 12/9/2024 – Oelrich Construction Inc. is thrilled to announce that it has been awarded the prestigious ABC Central Florida Excellence in Construction (EIC) Eagle Award in the Healthcare category for projects valued between $5-$10 million. This award recognizes the firm’s outstanding work on the Chi University Small Animal Hospital, a state-of-the-art facility completed in 2023, located in Reddick, Florida.

The Chi University Small Animal Hospital project, valued at $5.3 million, spanned 9,600 square feet and involved a ground-up construction to provide advanced medical care for small animals. The hospital integrates innovative Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection (MEPF) systems, as well as high-quality finishes throughout, making it a modern and highly functional space for both animals and veterinary professionals.

Completed within a 12-month timeline, from mobilization in July 2022 to substantial completion in July 2023, Oelrich Construction’s role as Construction Manager-at-Risk included successfully navigating the challenges of the volatile 2022 market. The project team implemented strategic Value Engineering solutions, ensuring on-time delivery and adherence to budget. Long-lead packages, including storefront systems, doors, frames, and exterior
finishes, were expertly managed to achieve the project’s objectives.

The Chi University Small Animal Hospital features ten exam rooms, a centralized treatment area, two procedure rooms, a Zen Garden, a grieving room, and both indoor and outdoor rehabilitation spaces. These amenities, along with a full X-ray suite and administrative offices, reflect the hospital’s mission to provide holistic care and a peaceful environment for its animal patients and their caregivers.

Oelrich Construction partnered with 18 subcontractors and suppliers to bring this project to life, including ABC Central Florida members Acousti, CT Mechanical, Southern Foam Insulation, and Steel Fabricators.
