Hurricane Milton Afternoon Updates: Wednesday, October 9

Seminole County officials announced the following updates for Hurricane Milton this afternoon. For the latest information, visit PrepareSeminole.org or register for alerts by texting 'Storm2024' to 888-777.

EVACUATION ORDER: Seminole County issued an evacuation order for residents with special needs, in mobile homes, and in flood prone or low-lying areas. If you’ve experienced flooding before, like during Hurricane Ian in 2022, it's crucial to evacuate.

SHELTERS: Public shelters opened this morning throughout Seminole County. Find a list at PrepareSeminole.org. If you are planning on going to a shelter, go now.

POWER OUTAGES: Do not call 911 to report power outages. Report power outages directly to your service provider (Duke, FPL, etc.). Avoid downed power lines. Turn off as many appliances and electronics as possible, and don't open freezers and refrigerators any more than necessary. Never operate a generator indoors.

FLOODING: Officials will be monitoring localized flooding on Gee Creek, Howell Creek, and the Little Wekiva and Little Econ Rivers. Find resources and hydrographs at PrepareSeminole.org. Do not drive or walk through flood water.

DAMAGE ASSESSMENT: Residents are encouraged to report property damage that occurs during hurricanes. Complete the form in the Damage Assessment section at PrepareSeminole.org.

STAY INFORMED: Follow Seminole County on social media, visit PrepareSeminole.org, and text Storm2024 to 888-777 to register for storm alerts. Call 407-665-0000 for the Citizens Information Line.
