Arts & Culture in Seminole County - Seminole Cultural Arts Council (SCAC), a 501(c)3 non-profit representing Art & Cultural resources, provides greater access for more residents and visitors to experience diverse local arts and culture offerings. Formed in 1994, SCAC is best known as a source of funding for local arts and culture agencies and activities. The Seminole County Board of Commissioners designated SCAC as the official recipient of Florida ARTS specialty license plate funds for grants, and over 20 years, SCAC has awarded more than $343,000 in arts grants to theater companies, cultural non-profits, senior art programs, film festivals, public schools, art festivals, and youth orchestras. SCAC?s 3 annual fundraisers, the ''Hoooowl for the Arts'', SCAC Golf Classic, and ''Hold'Em for the Arts'' poker tournament, provide sponsorships of concerts, theater, a piano gifting program for youth, art shows, Pop Up Pianos, and student art awards. We send 70-90 Calls to Artists yearly to > 400 recipients covering dance, acting, musical theater, photography, graphic design and fine art. SCAC bestows an ''Artist of the Year'' award jointly with the Board of County Commissioners and an annual heART for the Arts award. SCAC Board of Directors includes educators, business professionals, government officials, and representatives of other Art & Culture organizations. SCAC publicizes Arts & Culture information and Calls to Artists in Seminole County and Central Florida via Constant Contact, FaceBook and our website, www.seminoleculturalarts.org.
