Description
Heritage Jubilee: A Celebration of Black Achievement
Join the Black Faculty and Staff Association (BFSA) at Seminole State College of Florida for Heritage Jubilee 2024: A Celebration of Black Achievement. The theme for this year’s event is “Education: A Bridge to Success.” In keeping with that theme, BFSA will honor Ingrid Burton Nathan, the pioneering Black student who integrated Sanford Middle School in 1964, and Serita Beamon, superintendent of Seminole County Public Schools.
Established over 40 years ago by the Afro-American Society at Seminole State, Heritage Jubilee commemorates the life and achievements of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. while promoting his ideals of equality, justice and social change. The annual event has proven to be a powerful and unifying way to bring students, faculty, staff and the community together to reflect on Dr. King’s contributions and to continue his work.
