Description
The House of Bernarda Alba is considered to be the masterwork of Spain’s greatest poet and playwright, Federico García Lorca. The tension created when honor subjugates love is at the heart of Lorca’s masterpiece. Bernarda Alba lives in a small Andalusian village with her five daughters and elderly mother. Upon returning from the funeral of her husband, Bernarda announces that her daughters are to observe an eight-year period of mourning. The daughters are devastated. Repression and rebellion inevitably follow in the wake of Bernarda’s decision. When the mounting tension erupts, tragedy ensues.
Seminole State College’s Center for Fine and Performing Arts Theatre presents six major productions per year.
Tickets go on sale October 23.
